Pauquette Children's Services has
been a recognized agency for inter-country adoption in India since October 1985.
Since that time, we have placed approximately 180 children from India.
This agency and our adoptive parent support group have also raised money and
collected donations for other children's programs in India.
Our
program is in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. PAS is licensed to place children between birth and age
fifteen. The majority of the children placed from India have been children
between the ages of eighteen months and three years. PAS is, however, committed to
finding adoptive families for all children in need of homes, including children
who are older, part of a sibling group, or with special needs.
Children Available
Most of the children available for adoption are
toddlers. They are usually about eight to twelve months old when they
are referred to the adoptive family and arrive home when they are 18 to 24 months old. Sibling groups as well as
single children between the ages of one and six years are also
available. Most of the children are healthy; a few have medical
needs. Adoptive families may specify the age, gender, and health of
the child they wish to adopt. Children and birth mothers are routinely
tested for HIV and Hepatitis B. Children and babies receive excellent
care in small group homes while they wait for their adoptions to be
completed.
Adoptive Parent's Requirements
Couples married one year and singles are accepted. Generally, the
adoptive parents should be between the ages of 25 and 45, but this is
somewhat flexible. There are no family size or infertility
requirements.
